Canyon Pintado (Painted Canyon) National Historic District encompasses a series of rock art sites along 15 miles of State Highway 139 in Rio Blanco County, Colorado. People have occupied the canyon for a minimum of 11,000 years and the rock art comes from a number of those cultures. The sites include Fremont, Ute and Barrier Canyon styles of paintings and petroglyphs.
